Fresh Raspberry Smoothie
This Fresh Raspberry Smoothie is as simple as recipes go. The raspberries have been amazing (and cheap!) at my local grocer. We’ve been putting them in our morning oatmeal and making smoothies galore!
Have you guys seen Naked and Afraid on the Discovery Channel? I’m kind of obsessed. But in a totally I’m-not-sure-I-like-it kind of way. My boys and I stumbled upon it earlier this week after a long day and we just wanted to veg out in front of the tv. I’d heard of it but didn’t know anything about. Needless to say my boys were hooked from the get go and before you knew it, I was roped in too. Two strangers meet in a remote and deserted area and try to survive for 21 days off the land capturing their own food, trying to stay warm and find drinkable water. Oh and did I mention they’re BUTT ASS NAKED?
It’s such a weird but kind of fascinating premise.
Can we talk about the bug bites these folks endure? Because every single contestant is covered head to toe in bug bites. And, I mean head to toe. I just can’t. And their poor feet. I can only imagine how ripped up they must be at the end of the 21 days. And as much as I love a good camping trip, I like the comfort of a warm sleeping bag and cuddling up with someone that’s brushed their teeth within the last week. It’s hard for me to wrap my brain around wanting to do something like this because it’s just something I would never ever do. Naked? Stranger? No sunblock or bug spray? Skinning and eating rodents? No. No. No. And hell to the no.
But my boys think it’s the greatest thing ever! They said they’d happily ditch their clothes and run around the jungle or amazon for days foraging for food and using a machete to chop shit down. But what little boy wouldn’t love the sound of that? I asked them who they’d want to have as their partner and my older son, after pausing for just a second picked his mama! How sweet it that? Because, in his words….I’m a bad ass. And even though it’s called Naked and Afraid, he’d prefer I participate with clothes on because- again in his words- it’s just too weird to see me naked for 21 days straight.
Ha! I couldn’t agree more, kiddo, I couldn’t agree more 🙂
This smoothie is awesome with or without the protein powder. Have a great week and thanks for reading! xo, Kelley

I LOVE Califia toasted coconut milk. I don’t currently have cashews. Could I sub almonds, walnuts or pecans instead?
Sure! Any nut would work just fine!
