Vitamin C Immune Booster Smoothie
Load up on Vitamin C the natural way and keep those colds at bay. This Vitamin C Immune Booster Smoothie not only tastes delicious but it’s chocked full of the good stuff to keep you healthy as the seasons start to change!
FIGHTING OFF SEASONAL COLDS
‘Tis the season for colds around here. Every spring one (or all) of us seems to suffer from the sniffles and/or a cough. I blame it on having school aged kids plus the weather changing so drastically. If I’m not careful, my cold will quickly turn into a sinus infection. I swear I never had a sinus infection until after giving birth. How weird is that? Anyway, I’ve learned the hard way so now I’m diligent about keeping any kind of cold or allergy flare up at bay and I load up on Vitamin C and avoid dairy if I feel like I’m starting to get something.
GETTING VITAMIN C THROUGH FOOD
It’s easy to load up on supplements- and I’m so not judgy nor do I shun supplements- it’s just that I’d rather get my vitamins from real food if I can. Smoothies are a great way to pack a ton of fruit and veggies, and all the minerals and vitamins that come in them, into a smoothie. This is my go to smoothie this time of year with pineapple, strawberries and oranges all being somewhat in season and readily available. I adore the citrus punch and my kids will happily drink it too so I consider it a win/win! So far we’ve been lucky this spring and the house has stayed cold free. Fingers crossed it stays this way!
A SMOOTHIE A DAY…
We don’t drink smoothies everyday. My kids go through phases where a smoothie is all they want in the morning and then just like that they’re over them and all they want is a warm, heartier breakfast. Now that the weather is getting warmer I foresee more smoothies in our near future. Even if I can get half a smoothie in the kids with their cereal or toast I consider that a win.
TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST SMOOTHIE
I like my smoothies COLD so I use a mix of frozen ingredients and ice. There is no need to trim the greens off the strawberries and/or carrots- there’s a ton of nutrients in them! I also like to add a scoop of collagen powder because it’s tasteless and I like the added benefits that come along with it. This smoothie gets a nice citrus punch from the freshly squeezed lemon so make sure to include it!

This smoothie looks amazing! Thank you! The healthiest part of a strawberry is the stem, so I leave it in mine especially with a vitamix or blendec blender to work with (that’s how they demo at costco). You can’t taste it but you get the added nutrients! 🙂 thanks again for all the tummy recipes!!
What a great tip! Thanks for leaving the comment. I’ll have to try it next time as I always cut it out.
Thanks for the tip! I didn’t know the stem is the healthiest part. I always cut it out also because it makes the strawberries last longer in the refrigerator, doesn’t it?
At my local store, they always sell “buy one box get two” strawberries so I end up having too many at one time. That’s why I cut the stem out because I heard it helps to keep the strawberries fresh for a longer time.
It look looks good. I’m personally making pancakes with a all natural syrup and I wish I had some tangerines.I would heat in with the syrup and melt on the pancakes with a banana I don’t have,I’m out of the cold and filt good to write though.
Yum, Yum, and Yum!
This recipe is beautiful! Thank you also for the reminder to avoid dairy when we feel those winter sniffles coming on; it is a tip that definitely helps…now where’s my blender? 🙂
Ok I discovered this about 6 months ago when I frantically searched for an immune boosting smoothie when my hubby just started a new job and was coming down with a bad cold. Made this and after a few days of drinking this and getting lots of test, he was perfectly healthy with no cold.
Super smoothie
1/2 lemon
1/2 cup pineapple
1/2 apple
1/2 orange
Small handful of kale
Ice
Makes enough for 2
I use my Vitamix and this tastes just like a frozen lemonade! Yummy.
Greetings from China! Great smoothie! I got the ingredients last night and made it this morning to start my day. Love that it’s not sweet. The carrot tones it down. I left the strawberry stems on like you suggested and added bit of frozen spinach for more green power. Thanks for the great recipe!
