Chocolate Almond Coffee Creamer
I really, really, REALLY love my morning cup of coffee. And I don’t care what anyone tells me, with cream and just a wee bit sweet is the best way to have it. I gave up store bought coffee creamer years ago in lieu of making my own. This 5 minute recipe for homemade Chocolate Almond Coffee Creamer is just too good. And did I mention it’s super easy?
Do you like your coffee black? If you answered yes, then I tip my hat at you grown up bad asses. Me? Nope. I like it sweet and milky. I don’t care if you tell me it’s because I’m addicted to sugar. Because, duh, I already know that. And please don’t tell me that “real” coffee drinkers do it black. I already know that too. I just don’t care. I gave up lattes years ago as too much milk gives me a belly ache and in the last few years, I’ve switch from sugar to maple syrup to sweeten my joe. So while I might not be tough enough to drink it black, I am smart enough to sweeten it wisely. Boom. It’s a start anyway.
Homemade coffee creamer should totally be a thing. Well it is a thing. But I want to lobby to make it a BIG thing. While I’m usually pretty content with half-and-half and syrup in my coffee, sometimes I just want something a little fancier, something different, you know? Enter homemade coffee creamer. You could just buy it from the store if you’re into corn syrup and super horrible additives and fillers. But if the store bought stuff scares you- and it should- homemade creamer is about to be your new best friend. And I can’t tell you how easy it is to make. It’s stupid easy.
I usually make some variation of this Cinnamon Bun Coffee Creamer but when I made a batch week before last, I decided last minute to switch things up a bit. I stuck to the same base adding cocoa powder and almond extract instead of vanilla and cinnamon. This chocolate almond coffee creamer reminds me of Almond Roca candy. It’s hard to go wrong with chocolate and toffee, am I right? The beauty of making your own coffee creamer is you can add just about any flavors and I’m pretty sure it would turn out great.
With the remodel still going on and moving into an unfinished out this past week, it’s safe to say coffee and I have become pretty close. While I usually drink coffee in the morning only, I’ve needed an afternoon pick up some most days. Cold brew + a healthy splash of this creamer? Complete heaven.

Thanks so much for sharing! I remember you posted this on Instagram a while back, and it sounded great. There are definitely days when I need a sweet, creamy coffee, and this will be great for iced coffees in these last few hot days of summer 🙂
Yup sweet and white–w/ maple syrup. My mother would roll over in her grave. She wouldn’t even offer cream and sugar to guests–they had to ask/beg.
I’ve been thinking about making my own creamer for a while, plain almond milk just isn’t doing it for me these days…This sounds delicious and I love that you used maple syrup instead of just white sugar.
How much brown sugar? or do you not use that and sub maple syrup instead?
I finally remembered to buy whole milk so I can make this! Can’t wait to get up tomorrow!
Yummo! I promised a girlfriend I’d make her some homemade creamer to replace her store bought nasty ones. This is the winner! Can’t wait to try it!
This looks delicious! I’m lactose-intolerant, so will have to look for lactose-free whole milk.
You could use almond or coconut milk too. Or Lactose-free milk would work too!
