Eggnog Latte Recipe
I don’t know about all of you but I love eggnog.
I can’t wait for Thanksgiving when I buy my first quart of the season. (I will myself to NOT buy it before.)
I’ve seen so many eggnog flavored treats floating around the web the past few weeks it made me think of two things. First, it’s never occurred to me to use it in baked goods or for desserts- it’s kind of a dessert in itself, no? Second, I thought I should share with you how I drink my coffee this time of year.
Drip coffee + warmed eggnog = an almost eggnog latte.
I love the eggnog lattes from Starbucks but one, they are expensive two, after you put one or two shots of espresso in a twelve ounce cup, that’s a lot of room leftover to be filled with the creamy, delicious, highly caloric beverage and three, I don’t live all that close to Starbucks. Not that practical for me to be running out early in the morning just for a cup of joe.
Sooooooo, I make it at home. It’s simple. Far from rocket science. I simply heat about 2-3 oz of eggnog in a microwave safe mug and pour hot drip coffee over it. Yep, that’s it.
No fancy adornments here. No whipped cream, no grated nutmeg, no sleeve to keep your hand from getting burned. Just coffee and eggnog.
But it’s good.
Really good.

A friend and I were just talking about Eggnog Lattes yesterday. I think you either love them or hate them. I’m in the love them crowd!
Pretty much what I do…except the heating up part…mine comes straight from the container. Though I don’t use as much, I can see the benefits of warming and have duly noted. Thank you mama. 🙂
I’ve never been an eggnog fan but I think this sounds good. Will have to try it.
I don’t like to drink eggnog, but I’ve made a few recipes with it. It’s fun to bake with:)
oh my good sweet gracious! We are coffee eggnog sistahs! I definitely do this to “delicious up” the Christmas season! I do sprinkle a little bit of nutmeg on top though for good measure 🙂
I’m too lazy……how pathetic is that? I do love this drink though!!
I’m going to have to do this…perhaps with some cinnamon flavored coffee…::drool::
Yep, that sounds about right…..maybe a little rum too? Double drool.
I tried the eggnog latte at the neighborhood famously overpriced coffee shop chain. Tasted more like half-coffee half-milk with a pinch of cinnamon. I will have to try your {almost} version … it’s got to be better.
I love eggnog w/ coffee. I’m not a Starbucks fan and never knew they had an eggnog latte. I’ve been adding eggnog to coffee for about 15 years now, 1 or 2 per week from Thanksgiving to New Years Day. Add a little rum or bourbon on those very cold winter days really hits the spot. My favorite brand of pre-made eggnog is Southern Comfort non-alcoholic, it’s very good.
I haven’t had my coffee this morning and you can bet I’m going to add a nip of bourbon to it- thanks for the idea!!
