Simple Turkey Burger Recipe
Often times simple is best and in the case of this Simple Turkey Burger Recipe, the sentiment is never truer. The recipe calls for all pantry ingredients and is on the table in 15 minutes.
‘Tis the season for firing up the grill and dining el fresco. And while we’ve been doing our fair share of cooking outside, today is not that day. Instead I’m going to sell you on a turkey burger that you make on an indoor griddle. Don’t worry, you won’t heat up your kitchen and you can still dine outside!
Do you make turkey burgers at home? Truth be told, I stopped making them for awhile. But that’s because every time I would make turkey burgers we were usually grilling and the darned turkey burgers would either end up stuck to the grill or falling through the grates. Raw turkey burgers are fragile to say the least. I know you feel me!
So guess what? I stopped grilling turkey burgers. I only make them on my electric cooktop inside. The flat surface makes the temperamental turkey burgers sooooooo much easier to handle. Nothing sticks, no burger lost to the grates, and they come out perfect every single time.
This is a pretty basic recipe. I like to think of it as simplicity at it’s best. You could easily doctor up the turkey burgers but I like them as is. Simple = my jam. It’s also one of the few times I call for American cheese but, trust me, go with it. Because turkey is so lean, I like to cook the burgers in a mixture of olive oil and butter. Yes and you’re welcome. 🙂
What are you waiting for? Fire up the grill indoor griddle and get your turkey burger on! xo, Kelley

Simple (Easy) Turkey Burgers
Description
Simple {but delicious} turkey burgers!
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon each, salt & pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon each, garlic powder and onion powder
- 1 tablespoon each, olive oil AND butter
- 4 slices American cheese (or whatever cheese you like!)
- burger toppings of your choice: pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Place ground turkey into a large bowl with egg, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir to combine but taking care not to over mix. The mixture will be wet but once it starts cooking, the egg will help hold it’s shape together!
- Preheat indoor griddle to medium high heat. You could easily use a large sauté pan on the cooktop but I prefer my electric griddle for this.
- Divide meat into 4 even patties.
- Melt the butter and olive oil on the griddle. Place each burger down onto the olive oil/butter. Cook about 4 minutes per side or until browned and completely cooked through. Top each burger with a slice of cheese and then place a large pot lid on top of the burgers to help melt the cheese a little faster- this usually takes under a minute.
- Remove burgers and place onto buns. Top with any desired toppings and condiments and serve. I like ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles!

These were delish! Mine were too soft/soggy before cooking so I added about 1/4 c. plain bread crumbs and that was enough. The family loved them!
Ground turkey is kind of wet. I sometimes will put them in the fridge for 10 minutes to firm up before cooking. Handling the meat as little as possible helps too!
These were great…not too fussy, no complicated ingredients. They were flavourful and juicy. Thanks for this recipe.
Really delicious. The burgers came out flavorful and juicy on the Blackstone grill. My package of turkey was about 1.33lbs but I did not change any proportions and it was still great. Thank you for sharing.
