The Goods
I spent last weekend amongst some pretty good peeps and by pretty good, I mean the best! The Better Blog Retreat, headed up by Heidi of Foodiecrush and Maria of Two Peas and their Pod, took place in my hometown of Park City at a gorgeous house generously donated by Deer Valley Resort. It was a weekend filled with connecting, inspiring, teaching, and laughing. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see there was plenty of eating, oh was there eating, but the highlight for me was recognizing that I’m am so fortunate to be part of this food blogging community. I left the retreat feeling content about where the blog is headed and more psyched than ever to bring new and fresh content to Mountain Mama Cooks!
We had the pleasure of having Courtney from the popular Be More with Less blog come and the above quote she shared resonated with me in more ways than one. I’m always preaching how we should slow down and focus on living. Get out of the work tunnel and nurture ourselves- especially as working mamas. You have to give up something big to get back something bigger.
On to the goods! Here are a few recipes that caught my eye this week:
Drooling over these bars. Bring them all to me.
She had me at salted peanut butter frosting. #OMG
Have you tried “cauliflower rice”? This Greek bowl has me thinking I’m overdue.
My favorite thing about fall is soup season! Putting this one one on my “to make” list and SO making this cornbread to go with. I heart cornbread.
Katie Waltman generously donated necklaces to all the retreat attendees. We all got to customize and pick what we wanted. I went simple and for me, meaningful. Everything we do, every choice we make comes full circle and why not add a little luck to the mix of life? Hence the circle and wishbone. I haven’t taken mine off! I’ll be ordering Christmas gifts for some of the ladies in my life from her shop. I love when I can combine unique gifts and supporting local artists and fellow women. #winwin
Are you dressing up for Halloween? I’m thinking either cupcake or 80’s. Thoughts?
I really want some booties. I’m loving these. Bonus for comfort!
And how can you not eat this face? My four-legged girl was so psyched to have me home she has been following me everywhere. Especially in the kitchen! I’ll be sharing this awesome bundt cake next week!
Have a good one, everybody!! xo

Looks like an amazing retreat! Agree that we all need to focus more on living AND being in the moment. I find myself constantly thinking 20 steps ahead and have to remind myself to slow it down. Great links. Love those beautiful necklaces!
I heart cornbread and I heart you! Let’s not make the next time we see each other be over two years, kay? xoxo
Loved spending the weekend with you! We need to do it more often! xo
Had the best time last weekend…I LOVED spending time with you and hope we can do it again SOON! xoxo
It’s such a gift to spend time with you <3
OMG please be a cupcake! Ha! It’s so fun and cute 🙂
What a beautiful view of the autumn leaves. I hate winter but love fall, go figure.
And thanks for the shout-out for my Greek Chicken Cauliflower Rice bowl. I’m not such a fan of plain cauiflower rice, but I do love it with other flavors.
You’re so welcome, Kalyn. I can’t wait to try it!
