My Favorite Greenish Smoothie
While not technically green and more in the greenish-brown color scheme, this is still my favorite smoothie. I make it at least once a week if not twice and it’s my go to when I need a quick breakfast or lunch. It’s packed.
This smoothie (like all recipes) is merely a guideline. I’m just here to give you a little inspiration. I always use 1/2 of a banana and some greek yogurt (staples in my house) and I vary the greens and fruit to what I have on hand and what’s in season. Sometimes I use kale or beet greens, sometimes I use frozen blueberries. Last week mangos were on sale so I used that instead of an orange…….you get the idea. I do, however, like my smoothies cold. It’s necessary. So if I’m using all fresh berries I always, always add a handful or two of ice. It’s gotta be cold.
This is a great way to start the day. My kids love it, I love it, my husband loves it. Even my dog loves it. (One was spilled and she licked the floor clean!) I understand that it’s a lot of sugar from all the fruit but I’m a firm believer that anything coming from the ground (or a tree, which technically comes from the ground) is a good thing. It’s better than a diet cola for breakfast, no? Or a Poptart. If you’re watching your sugar intake, cut it in half. Leave it out. Add an avocado instead of a banana. Just do your thing. Whatever you do, just be sure to make it cold..
