HOW DO YOU CARAMELIZE ONIONS?

If you’ve never caramelized onions before let this be your PSA that you need to rectify that ASAP! Caramelized onions have SO much flavor and they’re super easy to make. You simply sauté the onions with a little bit of butter over low heat until they turn amber brown. It takes a little bit of patience and time but it’s not difficult at all! The result is buttery onions that are sweet and savory and the best thing ever!

WAYS TO USE THIS ONION THYME JAM

I’ve made this Onion Thyme Jam a few times now. It’s so versatile and I keep finding new ways to enjoy it. I’ve used it as a sauce for grilled chicken breasts, as a spread on a burger, and it’s delicious with cheese and crackers. You could heat it up and use it for a glaze on a pork tenderloin or even for Easter ham. It’s also delicious on a deli sandwich. Like I said, the onion jam is soooooooo versatile!

CAN YOU PRESERVE THIS ONION THYME JAM?

I don’t recommend canning this jam. It will last in the fridge for a few weeks though. The recipe is easily halved if you don’t think you can use it all up within a few weeks. The jam is best stored in a glass container with a tight fitting lid. You will want to let it sit at room temperature or warm it just a bit before serving as it will solidify jus a bit after sitting in the fridge.
